According to the World Bank, education is one of the strongest drivers for reducing poverty and improving health, gender equality, peace, and stability. That is why I support Lincoln Foundation. The signature Whitney M. Young Scholars Program kindles the fire in students from underserved communities who demonstrate above-average academic performance. This year I am proud to be part of Team Alpha! Together with other members of the Lincoln Foundation team, I am partnering with Alpha, a third-year student at Berea College, who is pursuing a degree in Business with a focus on Sports Management.

Lincoln Foundation scholars go on to excel in college with support from the College Transition Enrichment Program (CTEP). Scholars outperform students from similar populations in state and national retention as well as persistence rates. This spring, 31 CTEP scholars earned their bachelor's degree.

In my role as a Lincoln Foundation trustee, I have had the opportunity to meet many amazing scholars. Among these is Alpha, pictured above with fellow trustee Vivian Overall.
