Volunteer Support Blackacre Fundraiser

It is important that children have access to nature-based education programs.  

Blackacre's hands-on learning experiences leave a lasting impact on those who visit.  Over the past 42 years, our programs have hosted over 400,000 students in environmental learning and summer programs. 

It is crucial that all students, particularly those from Title 1 schools, and seniors in our community, continue to have access to these valuable resources.

However, not everyone can come due to physical, financial, or geographical barriers. We're raising funds to purchase a vehicle that will allow us to bring our educational programs and animals directly to the community. 

This vehicle will enable us to provide education, wellness, and community engagement activities, all enhanced by the delightful presence of our farm animals.

With your support, Blackacre would address Louisville’s educational disparities and provide vital support to our west-end underserved community. Here are some key advantages:

1. Schools west of I-65 face transportation limitations, making it challenging to attend educational programs far away. 
2. Farm animals, especially goats, make excellent natural science teachers by capturing attention of people. Their non-threatening nature and friendly demeanor make them suitable for interacting with both children and seniors.
3. Animals offer non-judgmental companionship, fostering empathy and enhancing social-emotional skills in children and seniors alike.
4. At-risk children and seniors often benefit from interacting with animals allows them to actively engage with the natural world, observe animal behavior, and develop a deeper understanding of ecological concepts.
5. Animals make learning more exciting and meaningful, leading to increased participation, improved focus, and enhanced academic performance for children.

With your support, we can take our successful programs into the community, expanding our reach and impact. We don’t need to reinvent the wheel, but if we add wheels to our education program, the impact will be far-reaching.
