Prominent Youth of America

Prominent Youth of America (PYOA) is a Black-led 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting entrepreneurship within the music & entertainment industry. Its Board of Directors (4 members) are African American, as is the Executive Director LaVon Clack. PYOA is committed to achieving social change through the following principles: Education, Integrity, Leadership, Technology & Innovations.

The community and clients we serve are predominantly African American families living in Louisville’s West End. They need affordable quality afterschool programming in West Louisville’s underserved, low-income neighborhoods. Census tracts estimate the percentage of this population aged from 5 – 17 live in poverty ranging from 34.1% - 57% and 57.2% - 98%. Parents earning well below the Federal Poverty Level cannot afford the typical fees associated with afterschool programs. PYOA exists to ensure these families will have equitable access to enrichment opportunities for their children’s academic success and social, mental, and emotional health.
