Charese is a Louisville native, devoted mother, and passionate youth advocate. As Assistant Director of Youth Development at Neighborhood House, she spends her days supporting young people and families. At home, she shares that same love and care with her three daughters—Minayah, Zariah, and Mychal—whom she proudly calls her besties.
Before becoming a Habitat homeowner, Charese and her daughters rented a home in Portland, where unresolved maintenance problems and repeated challenges with their landlord made the living situation difficult. Those experiences strengthened her desire to own a safe, stable home that truly belonged to her family.
“We deserve to have something we can take pride in,” she explains. “Our experience has shown that others don’t care as much when you live in their house. I want to show my girls you can have something of your own to show pride in.”
Today, Charese and her daughters are settled into their Habitat home—a place filled with faith, love, and connection. Although her daughters are preparing to begin lives of their own, Charese reminds them that this house will always be their home.
Charese’s story shows how homeownership can create lasting pride, stability, and a place where families can remain connected through every stage of life. Your support during Give for Good helps more Louisville families build a place they can proudly call their own.
