Derby City Curling Club

The Derby City Curling club is a 100% volunteer run organization. Our mission is to grow the sport of curling in Kentucky, and use it to change the lives of people in our communities. Curling boasts a large and growing community in the United States. It’s a unique sport that people of all ages and abilities can play together on a level playing field. Most equipment is provided by our club, meaning it’s more accessible financially. It also has a long, storied tradition of values such as sportsmanship, responsibility, teamwork, honesty, and etiquette.  

In our first five seasons, more than 1,000 people have tried curling during our Learn To Curl classes. We hosted a free adaptive wheelchair curling clinic for disabled veterans, headed by Jeff Snover of the US Wheelchair Curling Development Team. We've welcomed Tyler George, 2018 Winter Olympics Curling Gold Medalist for a series of events, and have visited the Parkland Boys & Girls Club five times. We've founded a junior curling program with Hudson Middle School.

Your donations will help us continue our work in Louisville and throughout Kentuckiana. We plan on continuing our commitment to the local disabled community through more free wheelchair curling events. We also are working on expanding our junior curling program to other schools in the area.

Who We Are

In partnership with Alpine Ice Arena on Gardiner Lane and the first curling club in Kentucky, we wish to teach, develop, promote and encourage interest in the sport of curling. Develop youth and adult programs that lead to local, national, and international competition. Coordinate and develop interscholastic competition, and to teach the sport to youth organizations as well as to interested adults by creating public awareness and appreciation for the sport. The Derby City Curling Club is an inclusive organization that welcomes people of all ages and abilities.
