Who We Are

Since 1967, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kentuckiana has been matching children and teens ages 7-15 (Littles) with an adult volunteer mentor (Bigs) in a one-to-one mentorship. BBBSKY serves 10 counties, 7 in Kentucky (Jefferson, Shelby, Oldham, Bullitt, Hardin, Grayson, and Nelson) and 3 in Indiana (Clark, Floyd, and Harrison). 

The impact of mentorship cannot be understated. Big Brothers Big Sisters' evidence-based approach is designed to create positive youth outcomes, including educational success, improved mental health, avoidance of risky behaviors, greater confidence, and improved relationships. 

Our Impact

In our 2023-24 Fiscal Year, Big Brothers Big Sisters:

• Served 634 youth through one-to-one mentoring relationships
• Impacted 3,000+ lives through staff connections with caregivers, siblings, and mentors
• Spent 18,000+ hours on volunteer enrollment, training, and match support

Youth in our programs report the following positive outcomes:

• 100% avoid involvement with the juvenile justice system
• 100% graduate high school on time
• 88% improved their academic performance
• 86% maintain or improve their mental health
