Be Like Mike, Inc

Mike Presley was a beautiful man in so many ways.  He loved his family, UK Wildcats, golf, vacations, bourbon, and taking care of those he loved.  Mike passed away of a heart attack on September 4, 2021 at the age of 45.  

It was important to Mike's family that his legacy of giving back and taking care of those he loved continue within the medical community, so they started the Be Like Mike, INC non-profit.  Through it, they have annually held the MP “Mike Presley” Classic Golf Scramble at the University of Louisville Golf Club where they are working to raise $100,000.  Once this goal is reached, the Dr. Michael William Presley Memorial Scholarship at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine will be endowed and will annually award a scholarship to a deserving medical school who embodies characteristics "Like Mike".  The scholarship will continue indefinitely and Mike's name will forever be affiliated with UK and the giving back to the medical community. 

In addition to endowing a scholarship at UKCOM, Mike's family hopes to help those in need locally as well.  Being born and raised in Shively (a suburb of Louisville) by a single mom and his grandmother, Mike knew the importance of a good education.  He was always a top student and played multiple sports growing up.  Mike graduated from Louisville Male High School where he played baseball and was very involved in National Honors Society and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.  Mike got a full academic scholarship for the University of the Cumberlands where he played baseball as a Biology major. After his first year of medical school at UK, Mike married his high school sweetheart and they had 2 beautiful children, Madeline & Parker.  Mike loved practicing medicine and taking care of others...so much so, that his children saw the difference he made in this world and decided to follow in their dads footsteps.  Madeline is currently a first year medical student at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine Bowling Green Campus and Parker is a junior at UK and is planning to apply to medical schools in the summer of 2025.  Mike's family would love to continue to raise money and give back to their community, meeting needs where they feel Mike would've been passionate about.

Mike was an amazing father, husband, mentor, friend, and physician and continues to make his family so proud. With your support and generosity, Be Like Mike, INC promises to make a difference in and around Kentucky.
