When a child enters Family Court because of abuse or neglect, their world is often turned upside down.

They may be separated from siblings, moved between homes, changing schools, and navigating trauma no child should have to face alone. In moments like these, what they need most is not just a system, but a consistent, caring adult who shows up for them.

At CASA of the River Region, that is where we come in.

Since 1984, CASA has recruited, trained, and supported community volunteers who serve as Court Appointed Special Advocates for children experiencing abuse and neglect. These volunteers build trusted relationships with children, gather information from the adults in their lives, and provide judges with clear, fact-based recommendations focused on each child’s best interests.

They help ensure a child’s voice is heard.

Last year, CASA served 520 children across Jefferson, Bullitt, Henry, Oldham, Shelby, Spencer, and Trimble Counties. But 332 children who needed a CASA Volunteer Advocate did not receive one because there were not enough trained volunteers to meet the need.

That gap represents real children in our community still waiting for someone to stand beside them.
